Pedestrian suspension bridge
Spiral strand ropes for Germany’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge.

665 metres long and retractable in a storm: Germany’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge gathers itself in before the wind can take hold.
At 665 metres, Skywalk Willingen is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Germany. Steel suspension ropes and struts carry the entire 120-tonne structure, with the four main suspension ropes supplied by FATZER. Up to 750 people may be on the bridge at the same time. Since its opening, it has been an important driver of tourism in the region. In strong storms, hydraulic cylinders pull the bridge back and gather it in so that it does not sway.
