Stadium roof – spoked wheel roof
Full locked coil ropes and spiral strand ropes for the roof of the Maracanã Stadium.

Venue of the 2014 World Cup final, with a new roof covering 46,500 square metres.
Opened in 1950, the stadium in Rio de Janeiro was completely renovated for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics. The new roof, made of a PTFE-coated glass fibre membrane, follows the original appearance of the venue. The spoked-wheel roof protects the 74,738 spectators from rain and UV light. FATZER supplied a total of 1,060 spiral ropes for the roof. Besides football matches, the stadium hosts cultural events such as major concerts. In 2016, it was the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games.
