Rope facade – net

Spiral strand ropes for the glass facade of the Maritime Museum Shanghai.

Two 58-metre sails with a 1,000-square-metre rope façade in between.

China's first national maritime museum stands on the shore of the artificial Dishui Lake in Shanghai. The symmetrical complex represents a ship moored in harbour, with two concave grid shells forming its sails. The space between them is closed by a transparent roof: a double-curved, prestressed rope facade with ropes from FATZER.
