Pedestrian and cycle suspension bridge

Full locked coil ropes and spiral strand ropes for the Dafne Schippers Bridge.

Named after a world-class athlete and crossed by 10,000 cyclists a day: a suspension bridge nine metres above the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal.

The 110-metre pedestrian and cycle bridge crosses the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal, connecting the centre of Utrecht with one of its new districts, Leidsche Rijn. It is named after Dafne Schippers, a world-class Dutch athlete who has her roots in the city. The bridge is suspended nine metres above the canal, and the highest point of its suspension arms is 35 metres above the water. Around 10,000 cyclists cross it every day. FATZER supplied 66 ropes: two main suspension ropes and eight stay ropes, all full locked coil ropes, plus 56 hanger ropes made of spiral strand rope.
